Amazing dining experience. Server was very knowledgable and memorized a lot of specials! Had the mussels and tuna and it was very tasty. We shared three desserts and the favorite was the bread pudding. Some would say..they are known for their bread pudding, haha. Definitely recommend a visit!

What a charming ambiance. It was the best food that I've had in a long time. I had the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly as well as had a great flavor. The paella was also fantastic. The waitstaff there was impressive. And we got to sit in a private room which was super intimate. We even had control over the dimmer switch. Our excellent server shared that the building used to be a speak easy so the mini private dining rooms have floor to ceiling molding with doorway sized mirrors to cover the previous door openings. Great anniversary spot!

Unlike some of these posts where they say the food is not good or its too expensive. The food here is very good. It's nice to get a variation of different foods that are prepared, not like any where here in Southern Illinois. Kyle the server was very attentive. This was not his first rodeo. He knew the menu and all the specials very well. For instance he asked my wife that does not like seafood if she wanted the anchovies left off the Cesar salad. My wife had the Filet and I had the rack of lamb. The rack was fantastic and my wife loved the filet. We ended with the Kahlúa pie which was to die for. If I had to do it all over again I would come back thank you, Tom's place.

You will not find a better place in southern illinois to have a special occasion dinner. Absolutely wonderful seating for a private special time or some of the tables are more open if you prefer. The dinners all the way down to the desserts definitely make it worth a trip! If you have not been do yourself a favor and go! An absolute gem of a place.

Some of the best food you will ever eat in Illinois, period. Great atmosphere, great staff, great owners. Fine dining at it's best and you cannot go wrong no matter what you pick to eat. Everything has been fabulous.

Another fine meal on Valentine's Day! Lasse's menus on special occasions are always great and really a pretty good value. Always great service and tonight no exception

Valentine's dinner on Friday was very good and our server was first rate. Have to admit I've lived in the area all my life and only been there 4 times. I'll be back. Also I was amazed they had a bottle of pappy van winkle 15 year bourbon behind the bar

Great food, great service, fabulous experience. I went here for my coworker's birthday. We had heard a lot of good reviews from locals around here. The restaurant is pretty cozy and they have separate rooms for different size parties so you have a pretty intimate setting. We felt like we were having our own party. They have a regular menu and a lot of daily specials. I had the seafood etouffee and that was delicious. Same with the Seafood biqsue. We ordered the lobster thermador and that was super yummy, but too small. The servers are awesome. They apologized a lot and fixed any mistake there was. We were able to meet the chef at the end of the night and the staff were just chatting up a storm with us. Such a nice welcome from other fancy, stuffy restaurants. All the food is pretty pricey, but it is a lot better than Legends.

This is by far the best restaurant in southern illinois. Great service and amazing Chef. Everything is tasted amazing and was made from scratch. It is a little more expensive, but it is totally because of the quality.

In this region of our country there are 2 fine dining restaurants you must visit. This is one. Elegant Danish owner-chef who has re-tuned his dishes for Southern Illinois tastes. BUT... Give him a day or 2 and he will prepare dishes made for royalty...literally.

I had heard that this was a really nice place, so I decided to take my wife here for our anniversary. Upon entering the restaurant, I was pleased with both the atmosphere of the location and manners of the staff. It is beautiful inside the restaurant and the staff treats you very well. It was soon after however, that my opinion of the location turned sour. The food delivered to us was horrendous. My filet mignon was both overcooked and tough. My wife's duck was dry and foul tasting. The side of potatoes au gratin tasted like they had come out of a box. I would have given this place only one star, however the atmosphere and the manners of the staff forced me to give it 2 overall.

This restaurant could hold it's weight in any city. Great food, great service. It's all there. A true 5 star.

STAY AWAY!! Waaaaaaaayyyyy overpriced for what you get. My sister had to send her steak back three times, they brought me a crab leg with an empty shell (no meat inside)......I think people in So. IL tend to gives good reviews for this place because they don't know any better. The owner must think he's in a Chicago suburb charging these prices. My waiter busted off the cork in the wine bottle and still charged us full price. I hand wrote a letter to the owner stating all of the shortcomings and no response....he just doesn't care. BTW, they place is severely outdated and needs a major updating....Gordon Ramsay would love to rip into this place. The hostess sat us right by the kitchen door and it wasn't even busy.....good thing I spoke up and requested a better table.

This restaurant could compete anywhere... New York, Chicago, San Fransisco. It is world class. The seating is cozy and comfortable. The restaurant is broken into small rooms with seperate rooms for many diners. I suggest ordered "off the menu". Each night the waiter will review items that are available that day. These are always fantastic. I have had steak, seafood and even a pork chop and have never been disappointed. The pear salad is wonderful, but recently I had their beet salad and it was fantastic. They have a solid wine list. You don't have to spend a fortune to find a quality wine but the high end stuff is there too (just in case your celebrating). I don't usually get dessert but on my last visit we ordered 3 desserts for a party of six. They were SO GOOD! We had quite a fight on our hands as all six people were sparring for more.

Best "finer dining" in southern IL. Nice menu that changes frequently. Located in a very rural location inside an old home converted into a restaurant. Prices a bit high, portions a bit small. Steaks or seafood done to perfection.
